Healthy Families Program Transition to Medi-Cal

The 2012-13 State Budget requires transition of children enrolled in the Healthy Families Program (HFP) to the Medi-Cal Program. The transition, effecting approximately 880,000 children, is to begin no sooner than January 1, 2013. A strategic plan outlining transition details is due to the state Legislature by October 1, 2012. The plan is now available at the link below. The California Health and Human Services Agency is working with the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board and the Department of Health Care Services to develop this plan and complete the transition by the end of 2013. The details of this process are documented below.
